Scorpion Pest Control: Get Rid of Scorpions Effectively

Although scorpions can produce hundreds of offspring (called scorplings), go six months without food and live up to ten years years, they are not difficult to kill or control. The Bark Scorpion is one of the most common pests here in Arizona. Scorpions love hiding under river rock, gravel, tree bark, woodpiles, and in block fences and attics.

You Can Get Rid of Scorpions Forever!

Many pest control companies say they can only take away scorpions’ food source (like crickets and spiders), leading to fewer scorpions. We say that you can get rid of scorpions forever!
Bug & Weed Mart carries the exact products that professionals use, but we make sure you use them correctly.

  1. Pay attention to cracks and crevices; scorpions can get into tiny cracks in the foundation of your house, so be sure to treat those areas.
  2. Use an insecticide dust or aerosol spray to reach into those hard to reach areas where scorpions are hiding.
  3. A black light will help you find out where scorpions are hiding so you can get rid of them.
  4. Place glue traps both in and around your home to let you know what pests might be crawling around.

We will show you how to get rid of scorpions with an environmentally safe treatment that only costs about $9 per month.

More About Scorpions

Scorpion photoScorpions' prey are usually insects, although the larger kinds have been known to kill small lizards and mice. All species of scorpions possess venom and use it to kill or paralyze their prey so that it can be eaten.

Scorpions have eight legs and are easily recognized by the pair of grasping claws and the narrow, segmented tail, carried in a characteristic forward curve over the back, ending with a venomous stinger. Though the scorpion has a fearsome reputation as venomous, only 25 species have venom capable of killing a human being. The Bark Scorpion in Arizona is very common and its sting can be fatal.

Habits

Scorpions prefer to live in areas where the temperatures range from 68°F to 99°F, but survive freezing temperatures and the desert heat. They are nocturnal, coming out at night to hunt and feed. The gestation period can be from 3 to 8 months and they are born alive. There may be anywhere from 1 to 100 scorplings born at a time and the lifespan for a scorpion in the wild is up to 10 years.

Create a Barrier

By creating an invisible barrier 3-5′ around the outside of your house, you are able to kill scorpions and other pests before they even get in your house. Bug & Weed Mart carries both spray and granules that make it easy for you to do this yourself.

Clear Hiding Places

Reducing the vegetation that is around and close to the house also helps. Scorpions like to use this vegetation as a hiding place. They also hide under rocks and bury themselves in loose sand and are even found in rocks and trees.

Scorpions are most active when temperatures are above 75°F, which means they are out and living life right now and will be for months. More Information

Sprinkle the granules all around the perimeter of your home, whether you have grass or rocks as your landscaping. Wet down the granules with a hose so they seep into the ground. Once the granules have been watered into the ground, they work longer than using the spray alone.

Next, use a liquid product we sell to spray up the walls at least 2 feet. Don’t just stop there, though. Spray the eaves, all around doors and windows, and all around the garage door, including both inside and out. Using both the granules and spraying creates the barrier to keep scorpions out of your house.
