How to Keep Scorpions Out of Your House

It’s that time of the year in the AZ desert again: monsoon. Along with the heat and moisture of monsoon come bugs. Namely scorpions. Scorpions like to feed on the other bugs that come out this time of the year, too. To learn how to keep scorpions out of your house, we have a few tips that will work.

Create a Barrier

By creating an invisible barrier 3-5′ around the outside of your house, you are able to kill scorpions and other pests before they even get in your house. Bug & Weed Mart carries both spray and granules that make it easy for you to do this yourself. Sprinkle the granules all around the perimeter of your home, whether you have grass or rocks as your landscaping. Wet down the granules with a hose so they seep into the ground. Once the granules have been watered into the ground, they work longer than using the spray alone.

Spray the eaves, all around doors and windows, and all around the garage door, including both inside and out. Using both the granules and spraying creates the barrier to keep scorpions out of your house.

Clear Hiding Places

Reducing the vegetation that is around and close to the house also helps. Scorpions like to use this vegetation as a hiding place. They also hide under rocks and bury themselves in loose sand and are even found in rocks and trees.
